Why Customers Keep Ordering from Us
Why a Turf Delivery Company That Farms Makes Sense
Most turf you see on the back of a truck has passed through a few hands before it reaches a lawn. At Associated Turf, the same people who plant, mow and feed our paddocks on the Cornwallis Flats also cut your order and send it out. We have been growing natural turf beside the Hawkesbury River for more than 45 years, and nothing we deliver is bought in from another grower or pulled off a stockpile.
That matters because turf is a living product with a short shelf life once it leaves the ground. When your turf delivery company is also the farm, the harvest can be timed around your delivery day, and the advice you get comes from people who know how each variety behaves in the paddock.
In short: Associated Turf grows buffalo, Kikuyu and couch at Windsor and delivers it fresh to homes and job sites across the Hawkesbury, Monday to Saturday. Most farm-direct turf is roughly $9 to $18 per square metre, and the variety, area, delivery distance and whether you need laying fix the exact figure. We usually reply to quote requests within one business day.
- Grown, cut and delivered by one business
- No yard stock or double-handling
- Harvest planned around your delivery day
- Straight answers on what is ready to cut
Your Local Turf Delivery Company in Windsor and Wilberforce
Windsor and Wilberforce sit right on our doorstep, and the properties here ask a lot of a new lawn. Older Windsor homes often have established trees casting heavy shade by afternoon, while Wilberforce blocks tend to be larger and more open, with long driveways and paddock-style yards that take the full summer sun. In both places, turf has to go down quickly once it arrives, because a hot Hawkesbury afternoon can dry out rolls left sitting on a driveway. A short trip from paddock to property gives the grass the best possible start.
As a turf delivery company that grows everything it sends out, we plan each local delivery around the harvest rather than the other way round. We ask where the truck can park, how far the pallets need to go and when you plan to start laying, then cut your turf to suit. You can learn more about Associated Turf and our Windsor farm, ask about laying by our own team, or simply book a supply-only drop for a weekend project.
- Short paddock-to-property run for local orders
- Delivery Monday to Saturday, timed to your laying day
- Help choosing turf for shaded or open blocks
What Your Turf Delivery Can Include
A delivery from our farm can be as simple as a few rolls for a patch-up or as involved as a staged supply for a new estate. Because we control both the harvest and the truck, you can combine the options below to suit the job, the site and your timing.
- Fresh harvest: cut to order on our Windsor farm, never stockpiled
- Six varieties: Matilda, Sir Walter, Shademaster, Kikuyu, Greenlees Park and Wintergreen
- Pallet delivery: palletised loads for bigger jobs, Monday to Saturday
- Farm pick-up: collect from Cornwallis Road on weekdays or Saturday morning
- Supply and lay: our own team can lay the turf after it arrives
- Maxi Turf rolls: 1.2 m by 12 m rolls laid by machine for large areas
Flood Plain Ground and Delivery Access Around Wilberforce
Much of Wilberforce sits on low ground near the river, and after a run of rain, yards and driveways can stay soft for days. That is a real consideration for any turf delivery, because a loaded pallet is heavy. Fresh turf typically weighs around 15 to 25 kg per square metre, so a modest backyard order can add up to well over a tonne once it is stacked.
Semi-rural blocks bring their own access questions too. Long gravel driveways, narrow gates, overhanging trees and stock fences can all decide where a pallet can be dropped and how far it then needs to be barrowed. In Windsor’s older streets, parked cars and tight frontages can do the same.
We talk through these details when you book, not on the morning of delivery. If the ground is too wet for a truck to get close, we can agree on a firmer drop point or shift the day, so your turf is not left sitting while you work out how to move it.

- Delivery moved if ground is too wet for access

How Much Does a Turf Delivery Company Charge in the Hawkesbury?
When you buy from a turf delivery company that grows its own grass, you pay for the turf and the trip, without a reseller’s margin in between. Pricing for most turf from the farm sits at roughly $9 to $18 per square metre. Kikuyu and couch sit toward the lower end, while soft leaf buffalo sits toward the top. Bigger areas usually earn a lower rate per square metre, and delivery distance from Windsor is factored in. Our team can install it for an extra quote based on area, preparation and access.
For a price on your exact area and address, send us your details and we will put a quote together.
- Variety: soft leaf buffalo costs more than Kikuyu or couch
- Area: larger orders bring the rate per m² down
- Distance: travel from our Windsor farm to your address
- Laying: supply only or supply and lay, quoted separately
Why Delivery Timing Matters for Living Turf
Cut turf is still a living plant, but once it is rolled up it cannot draw moisture or feed the way it does in the paddock. That is why fresh turf should be laid on the day it arrives, especially in hot weather, and why we cut to order instead of stockpiling. Turf laid promptly onto prepared soil usually starts rooting within about two weeks in warm conditions.
Timing also shapes supply on the farm side. After a paddock is harvested, it typically needs around 10 to 18 months to regrow before it can be cut again, so we plan harvests carefully across our paddocks. For large staged projects, that lets us schedule supply across a multi-month build rather than delivering everything at once.
How We Get Turf from Our Paddock to Your Property
Every delivery follows the same path, and the same team looks after it from the first call to the last pallet. Here is what happens between your enquiry and the moment the truck pulls up.
- Measure and choose. You send us your area and site details, and we suggest a variety that suits the light and the way the lawn will be used.
- Lock in a delivery day. We confirm pricing, agree on a Monday to Saturday date and note where the pallets should go.
- Harvest on the farm. Your turf is cut on our Windsor paddocks as close to dispatch as possible, so it travels green and moist.
- Drop off and lay. The truck delivers to the agreed spot, and you or our laying team get the turf down that same day.
Laying Delivered Turf Through Windsor Heat and Frost
Windsor summers can be fierce, with hot westerly days that dry exposed soil within hours. Turf delivered on a day like that needs to go straight down onto damp, prepared ground and be watered well, or the edges can curl and brown before the roots take hold. Planning an early start, or asking for a delivery that lets you lay in the cooler part of the day, makes a real difference.
Winter brings the opposite problem. Cold air settles over the river flats around Windsor and Wilberforce, and frosty mornings slow growth right down. Couch and Kikuyu can go dormant and turn straw-coloured through a frosty winter, while soft leaf buffalo holds its colour better, which is worth knowing if you are laying a lawn in May or June and want it to look green straight away.
We factor the season into our variety advice and delivery timing, so the turf you receive suits the weather you are laying it in.
- Delivery timed to suit cooler laying hours
- Variety advice for frosty river-flat winters
- Watering guidance for hot first weeks

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Turf Delivery Company in Windsor
Planning a turf delivery from our farm? These answers cover the questions Windsor and Hawkesbury customers ask most often.
Our turf specialists are happy to help.
Why choose a turf delivery company that grows its own turf?
A turf delivery company that grows its own turf can cut your order to match your delivery day instead of pulling it from a stockpile. At Associated Turf, everything we deliver comes from our own paddocks at Windsor, so we know exactly how fresh it is, how it was grown and which variety suits your yard.
Which days do you deliver?
We deliver Monday to Saturday. When you book, we agree on the day you plan to lay and harvest your turf to suit, so it arrives fresh. If you would rather collect, farm pick-up runs Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm and Saturday 7am to 12pm from Cornwallis Road, Windsor.
How heavy is a turf delivery?
Fresh turf generally weighs between 15 and 25 kg per square metre, with moisture making the difference. That means even a modest order can weigh more than a tonne. Bigger jobs arrive on pallets, so tell us where the truck can safely park and how far the turf needs to travel to the lawn area.
What should I do if I can't lay the turf on delivery day?
Fresh turf should be laid the day it arrives, particularly in hot weather, because rolled turf cannot feed or take up water properly. If your plans change, call us on 1800 044 006 as early as possible so we can look at moving your harvest and delivery to a better day.
Can your team lay the turf as well as deliver it?
Yes. Our own team supplies and lays turf, so your turf delivery company and your installer can be the same booking. Laying is quoted on top of the turf price and depends on the area, the site preparation needed and how easy the site is to access.
Do you deliver to builders and landscapers?
We do. Builders, landscapers, developers, schools and councils all order from us, alongside homeowners. Trade and project pricing is available, and for multi-month builds we can stage harvests so turf arrives in batches as each section of the site is ready, rather than all at once.
Does the weather ever affect my turf delivery?
It can. When paddocks on the Hawkesbury flats are waterlogged, we cannot harvest cleanly, and very wet ground at your property may stop a truck from reaching the drop point. In those cases our turf delivery company contacts you early to agree on a new day that keeps the turf fresh.
