How Turf Delivery Works from Our Windsor Farm
Our turf delivery service starts in the paddock, not in a warehouse. Associated Turf has grown natural turf on the Cornwallis Flats at Windsor for more than 45 years, and every roll that goes onto our trucks is cut from our own fields for the day it is booked. There are no resellers in the chain and no stockpiled pallets waiting in a yard, so the grass you receive is the grass we harvested for you.
Deliveries run Monday to Saturday, with larger orders stacked on pallets. You choose the variety, tell us the area and the day you plan to lay, and we time the harvest to suit. If you live close by and would rather collect, farm pick-up is available six days a week as well.
In short: Associated Turf is a Windsor turf farm that delivers fresh buffalo, Kikuyu and couch across the Hawkesbury from Monday to Saturday. Most farm-direct turf costs about $9 to $18 per square metre, depending on variety, area, delivery distance and whether you need it laid. We usually reply to quote requests within one business day.
- Harvested to suit your delivery day
- Six delivery days every week
- Home, building site and commercial drops
- Friendly team who keeps you informed
Your Local Turf Delivery Team in Londonderry and North Richmond
Londonderry’s acreage blocks and the streets of North Richmond ask very different things of a delivery. On the larger Londonderry lots, orders tend to be big, with wide open lawns, long driveways and several pallets landing at once. In North Richmond, many jobs are suburban backyards and front verges, where space to set down a load is tighter and the homeowner is often laying the turf that same afternoon. In both places the grass needs to arrive fresh and go down quickly, because rolled turf cannot feed itself for long.
We plan every turf delivery around your lay day. Our team helps you choose a variety that suits your sun, soil and use, works out how much you need, then cuts it on the farm and sends it out Monday to Saturday. Larger orders come on pallets, smaller jobs can be collected from Windsor, and you can compare our turf varieties before you book a date.
- Delivery Monday to Saturday from Windsor
- Pallets for bigger acreage and estate orders
- Harvest timed to the day you plan to lay
What Your Turf Delivery Can Include
A turf delivery from our farm is more than a load of rolls left at the kerb. You can shape the order around your project, from a small patch repair to a multi-pallet lawn, and add advice or installation wherever it helps. These are the options most customers ask about when they book.
- Six varieties: Matilda, Sir Walter, Shademaster, Kikuyu, Greenlees Park and Wintergreen
- Cut-to-order harvest: turf cut for your delivery day, never stockpiled
- Palletised loads: bigger orders stacked on pallets for easier handling
- Six-day service: delivery from Monday to Saturday
- Supply and lay: our own team can lay the turf for you
- Maxi Turf rolls: 1.2 m by 12 m rolls, machine-laid for large open areas
Hawkesbury Heat and the Same-Day Laying Rule
Hawkesbury summers are hot, and heat is the biggest threat to any turf delivery. On a still afternoon in Londonderry or North Richmond, rolls left stacked on a pallet begin to warm from the middle, and the grass inside can yellow before it ever touches the soil. Fresh turf should be laid on the day it arrives, and in hot weather that rule matters even more.
The second problem is timing. Plenty of people book a delivery before the ground is ready, then spend half the day hoeing or spreading underlay while the turf waits. On a 35-degree day that delay can cost you part of the lawn. Hot westerly wind makes it worse, drying out the exposed edges of each roll faster than most people expect.
We help you avoid both problems by talking through your preparation before we lock in the harvest. If the ground isn’t ready, it is better to move the delivery than to leave cut turf sitting in the sun. Once it lands, start laying from the furthest point and water each section as you go.
- Ground prepared before the truck arrives
- Turf laid on the day of delivery
- Watering started as each section goes down

How Much Does Turf Delivery Cost Around Windsor?
Most of the turf we harvest sells for about $9 to $18 per square metre direct. Kikuyu and couch sit at the lower end of that range, while soft leaf buffalo varieties such as Matilda and Sir Walter sit toward the top. What you pay for delivery depends on how far your address is from our Windsor farm and how big the order is, and larger areas usually earn a lower rate per square metre. If you’d like our team to lay the turf, installation is quoted on top, based on area, site preparation and access.
Send us your measurements and suburb, and request a delivered turf quote from the farm.
- Variety: soft leaf buffalo costs more than Kikuyu or couch
- Order size: larger areas get a lower rate per square metre
- Distance: the trip from Windsor to your address
- Laying: supply only or supply and lay, plus site access
Turf Delivery Facts Worth Knowing in Advance
Fresh turf is heavy. Depending on moisture, it typically weighs around 15 to 25 kg per square metre, so a 50 square metre lawn means somewhere between 750 kg and 1.25 tonnes of grass arriving at once. That is why bigger orders come on pallets, and why it pays to decide where the load will sit before the truck pulls up.
Turf is a living crop, and once it is cut the clock is running. Laid on prepared soil and watered well, fresh turf usually starts rooting within about two weeks in warm weather. Left rolled up, it heats and declines. Because a harvested paddock needs around 10 to 18 months to regrow, we cut only what has been ordered, which keeps our fields healthy and your delivery fresh.
How We Handle Your Turf Delivery
From the first phone call to the moment the turf lands on your property, the same farm team manages your order. This is how a typical turf delivery from our Windsor paddocks comes together.
- Measure and choose. Send us your area and how the lawn will be used, and we recommend a variety and quantity.
- Lock in the day. We confirm your price and book a delivery day from Monday to Saturday that fits your preparation.
- Cut on the farm. Your turf is harvested from our own paddocks for that delivery, never pulled from a stockpile.
- Deliver and lay. The load arrives, on pallets for bigger jobs, ready for you or our team to lay that day.
Acreage Access and Soft Ground After Rain
Getting a loaded truck to the right spot is a real consideration out here. Many Londonderry properties have long gravel driveways, gates and soft paddock edges, and after a wet week that ground can be too boggy for a heavy vehicle to cross without damage. In parts of North Richmond, sloping blocks and narrow side access make it hard to place pallets close to where the lawn is going.
Rain affects the farm end too. Our paddocks sit on the Cornwallis Flats beside the Hawkesbury River, and when they are waterlogged the harvesting machinery cannot cut clean rolls. If heavy rain is forecast, we will talk with you about shifting the harvest rather than sending out damaged turf.
Before delivery day, tell us about gates, slopes, overhead wires and where you would like the turf set down. A few details up front help the drop go smoothly and keep the turf near where it will be laid, which saves you carrying heavy rolls across the yard.
- Access details discussed before delivery day
- Harvest moved if paddocks are waterlogged
- Turf set down as close to the job as access allows

Frequently Asked Questions About Turf Delivery in Windsor and the Hawkesbury
Booking a load of turf for the first time? These answers cover the questions Hawkesbury homeowners ask us most before delivery day.
Our turf specialists are happy to help.
What days do you offer turf delivery?
Our turf delivery runs Monday to Saturday from the farm at Windsor. Tell us the day you plan to lay and we schedule the harvest to match, so the turf is cut for your delivery rather than taken from a stockpile. If it suits you better, you can also collect your order from the farm during pick-up hours.
Can I pick up turf from the farm instead?
Yes. The farm is open for pick-up from 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 12pm on Saturday. Give us a call first so your order can be cut fresh. Fresh turf typically weighs around 15 to 25 kg per square metre, so check that your vehicle or trailer can carry the load safely.
How do I work out how much turf to order?
Measure each rectangular section of the lawn, multiply length by width, and add the totals together. Break curved or irregular shapes into smaller rectangles first. Send us the figures and our team will check them and recommend a quantity before we cut anything.
What should I do when my turf delivery arrives?
Start laying straight away, beginning at the point furthest from the pallets so you are not walking over fresh rolls. Especially in hot weather, fresh turf should be laid on its day of arrival. Water each section as you finish it, then keep watering regularly for the first few weeks.
Do you deliver to large acreage properties?
Yes. Bigger orders are delivered on pallets, and for very large open areas we also offer Maxi Turf rolls measuring 1.2 m wide by 12 m long. These are laid by machine for fewer joins, so they need easy machine access. Tell us about your driveway and gates when you book your turf delivery.
Which varieties can you deliver?
We deliver Matilda, Sir Walter and Shademaster Soft Leaf Buffalo, Kikuyu, Greenlees Park Couch and Wintergreen Couch, all grown on our own Windsor paddocks. Shademaster stands up to as much as 85% shade, while Matilda and Sir Walter need only 3 to 4 hours of direct sun to thrive.
Will rain affect my turf delivery?
It can. When our river flat paddocks are waterlogged, the harvesting machinery cannot cut clean rolls, and very wet sites can be hard for a truck to reach. If rain looks likely to affect your turf delivery, we will contact you early and agree on a new day.
