Turf Supply and Delivery Built for DIYers and the Trade
Some customers want to lay a new backyard lawn themselves over a weekend. Others run landscaping crews that need pallets on site before the team arrives at seven. Our turf supply and delivery service is set up for both, because we grow the grass, cut it and load the truck ourselves at Windsor.
There is no reseller yard in the chain, so the turf you receive has not been sitting around waiting for a buyer. We harvest from our own paddocks on the Cornwallis Flats for the day you need it, and our team can tell you which variety is ready, how many square metres to allow and when the truck will roll in. If you would rather have it laid for you, our own crew can do that as well.
In short: Associated Turf grows and delivers fresh turf from its Windsor farm to DIYers and trade crews across the Hawkesbury. Most farm-direct turf costs about $9 to $18 per square metre, depending on variety, area, delivery distance and whether you add laying. We usually reply to quote requests within one business day.
- Harvested to suit your delivery day
- Delivered Monday to Saturday
- Help with quantities and variety choice
- Clear laying tips for DIY customers
Turf Supply and Delivery for Agnes Banks and Wisemans Ferry Homes
Agnes Banks and Wisemans Ferry sit at opposite ends of the Hawkesbury, and the properties in each ask different things of a lawn. Around Agnes Banks, many blocks are larger rural-residential lots with light, sandy ground that drains fast and dries out quickly in summer. Out towards Wisemans Ferry, homes are spread along the river with longer drives in and out, so a delivery needs to be planned rather than squeezed in. In both places, turf that has been cut days earlier and left on a pallet simply does not cope well with the trip or the heat.
That is why we keep supply and delivery in one set of hands. We help you choose a variety for your sun and soil, cut it as close as possible to dispatch, and book a delivery day that suits your preparation. DIYers get clear laying tips, and trade crews get pallets placed where they are most useful. Browse the turf varieties we grow and pick the one that suits your yard before you book.
- Variety matched to sandy or heavier Hawkesbury ground
- Delivery days planned around longer rural drives
- Cut close to when your turf leaves the farm
What Your Turf Supply and Delivery Order Can Include
No two jobs need quite the same thing. A DIY homeowner may want twenty square metres and a few laying tips, while a landscaper might need several pallets dropped on the same morning. Here is what you can build into a supply and delivery order from our farm.
- Six varieties: Matilda, Sir Walter and Shademaster buffalo, Kikuyu, Greenlees Park Couch and Wintergreen Couch
- Harvest timing: cut to order for your delivery day, never stockpiled
- Pallet delivery: bigger orders arrive on pallets, Monday to Saturday
- Farm pick-up: collect from Windsor if you have a suitable trailer
- Supply and lay: our own team can lay the turf for you
- Trade pricing: project rates and staged harvests for multi-month builds
Why Agnes Banks Sand Changes How You Plan Delivery
Much of the ground around Agnes Banks is sandy, and sand behaves very differently from the heavy clay found in other parts of the Hawkesbury. Water runs straight through it, so fresh turf laid on a hot afternoon can dry out underneath within hours if it is not watered in straight away. That makes the timing between harvest, delivery and laying more important than usual.
Sandy blocks also tend to lose nutrients quickly, which means a quality underlay soil spread before delivery gives young roots something to hold onto. Many of these properties have large open areas too, and large areas take longer to lay, so the last rolls on the pallet are waiting in the sun while the first ones go down.
We suggest booking delivery for a morning when you are ready to lay straight away, having the hose or sprinklers set up beforehand, and splitting very large areas over two delivery days if your crew cannot finish in one session. Fresh turf should go down on the day it arrives, especially when the weather is warm.

- Advice on underlay soil before your turf arrives
- Split deliveries for large open areas
How Much Does Turf Supply and Delivery Cost Around the Hawkesbury?
As a general guide, most turf from our farm falls between about $9 and $18 per square metre. Kikuyu and couch sit toward the lower end, and soft leaf buffalo such as Matilda or Sir Walter sits toward the top. Larger orders usually come in at a lower rate per square metre. Delivery is priced on the distance from Windsor, and if you want our team to lay the turf, installation is quoted on top based on the area, preparation and access.
For a firm figure for your address, send us your measurements and we will put a quote together.
- Variety: buffalo costs more than Kikuyu or couch
- Area: bigger orders attract a lower rate per square metre
- Distance: delivery is priced from our Windsor farm
- Laying: supply only or supply and lay
What to Know Before Your Turf Arrives
Fresh turf is heavier than most people expect. Depending on how much moisture it holds, it typically weighs around 15 to 25 kg per square metre, so a single pallet is a serious load. That is worth keeping in mind if you plan to collect from the farm with your own trailer, or if the delivery spot is a long walk from where the lawn is going.
Once cut, turf is still alive but cannot feed itself properly while it is rolled up, so it should be laid on the day it arrives, particularly in hot weather. In warm conditions, fresh turf usually starts rooting within about two weeks, provided it is watered regularly for the first few weeks. Before delivery day, loosen any compacted soil, spread underlay and level the area so the rolls sit flat with good soil contact.
How We Handle Your Turf Supply and Delivery
Whether you are a homeowner or run a landscaping business, every order follows the same straightforward path from our paddocks to your property.
- Measure and choose. Send us your area and tell us about sun and use, and we will recommend a variety.
- Quote and book. We confirm pricing and lock in a harvest and delivery day that suits your preparation.
- Cut at Windsor. Your turf is harvested from our own paddocks as close to dispatch as possible.
- Delivered and laid. We deliver on pallets for larger jobs, and you lay it straight away or our team lays it for you.
Planning Deliveries Along the River Towards Wisemans Ferry
Properties towards Wisemans Ferry are some of the furthest from our farm within the Hawkesbury, and that distance changes how an order is planned. A longer trip means the delivery window matters, so we schedule these runs carefully and cut the turf as close to departure as we can. Delivery distance from Windsor is also one of the factors that shapes your price, so it is worth asking for a quote that includes it.
Many riverside homes have long gravel driveways, gates, slopes down towards the water or limited turning room near the house. These details decide where a pallet can be unloaded and how far rolls need to be carried by hand. Steep river banks also need a variety with a strong root system to hold the soil once it establishes.
Before you book, tell us what the access is like and send a photo if it helps. We will work out the best drop point, and if the site is tricky, a supply-and-lay quote from our own team may save you a lot of carrying.
- Delivery windows planned for longer runs
- Drop points agreed around gates and slopes
- Supply-and-lay option for hard-to-reach yards

Frequently Asked Questions About Turf Supply and Delivery in the Hawkesbury
Here are straight answers to the questions DIYers and trade crews ask most before booking turf from our Windsor farm.
Our turf specialists are happy to help.
Who can use your turf supply and delivery service?
Anyone with a lawn to lay. Our turf supply and delivery service covers DIY homeowners, landscapers, builders, developers, schools and councils. Every order is cut fresh from our Windsor paddocks and delivered Monday to Saturday, and you can lay it yourself or ask our own team to lay it for you.
How much turf should I order?
Measure the length and width of each area in metres and multiply them to get square metres. For odd shapes, break the yard into rectangles and add them together. Allow a little extra for cutting around edges and curves. If you are unsure, send us your measurements or a sketch and we will help you work it out.
Can trade crews get regular supply?
Yes. Landscapers, builders and developers can ask about trade and project pricing, and we can stage harvests across multi-month builds so turf arrives as each stage is ready. That keeps your crew laying fresh turf rather than storing pallets on site while other work is finished.
What happens if it rains on my delivery day?
Wet paddocks can stop our machinery cutting cleanly, and a waterlogged site is hard to lay on. If the weather looks likely to affect your turf supply and delivery booking, we will contact you early so we can agree on a better day together.
Is farm pick-up an option instead of delivery?
Yes. Pick-up at the farm is available weekdays from 8am to 4.30pm and Saturdays from 7am to 12pm. Call ahead so your turf is cut fresh, and make sure your vehicle can handle the weight, since fresh turf weighs around 15 to 25 kg per square metre.
Which variety should I choose for a shady yard?
For yards with limited sun, Matilda and Sir Walter thrive with as little as 3 to 4 hours of direct sun, and Shademaster is up to 85% shade tolerant. For full-sun areas that get heavy use, Kikuyu is hardy and repairs quickly. Tell us about your yard and we will recommend one.
Do you supply large areas like sports fields?
Yes. For ovals, parks, schools, golf courses and acreage, our turf supply and delivery can include Maxi Turf rolls that are 1.2 m wide by 12 m long and laid by machine. They mean fewer joins and faster establishment, but the site needs easy machine access.
