Choosing Grass for Sydney Delivery, Site by Site
Sydney’s building sites and backyards cover an enormous range. A new business park in the west might need thousands of square metres of tough, sun-loving grass, while a terrace on the lower North Shore needs a small amount of shade-tolerant buffalo carried through a narrow hallway. Associated Turf grows six varieties on its Windsor farm, so we can match the grass to the site rather than the other way round.
Landscapers, builders, developers and homeowners all order from us directly. Every roll comes from our own paddocks, cut for the day it is delivered, with trade pricing and staged harvests available for longer projects.
In short: Associated Turf grows six grass varieties at Windsor and delivers them to Sydney sites Monday to Saturday. Most turf costs about $9 to $18 per square metre, with variety, area, distance and laying shaping the price, and trade pricing is available. We usually reply to quote requests within one business day.
- Harvested to suit your delivery day
- Six delivery days every week
- Home, building site and commercial drops
- Friendly team who keeps you informed
Trusted Grass Turf Delivery in Eastern Creek, Luddenham and the Lower North Shore
Eastern Creek and Luddenham are changing fast, with industrial estates, new housing and large open landscapes going in across land that was once paddocks. Those sites need big quantities of hard-wearing grass, delivered in stages as each area is finished. The lower North Shore is the opposite: established suburbs, small gardens, tight streets and plenty of shade from apartments and old trees. Both need the right grass, but the variety, quantity and delivery plan look nothing alike.
We start by asking what the grass has to do. For western developments that might mean Kikuyu or couch in volume, or Maxi Turf for wide open areas. For a lower North Shore courtyard, it is more likely a shade-tolerant buffalo in a modest order. Either way, the turf is cut at Windsor for your delivery day and sent straight to site. Read about our turf delivery service or call us to discuss the job.
- Volume supply for western Sydney developments
- Shade-tolerant grass for compact North Shore gardens
- Cut to order at Windsor for each delivery
What Your Sydney Grass Turf Delivery Can Include
Every Sydney order draws on the same six varieties and the same farm team, but the package changes with the site. These are the options landscapers and homeowners most often combine when they book grass with us.
- Variety selection: six grasses matched to light, wear and use
- Stadium-grade couch: Wintergreen for high-performance surfaces
- Maxi Turf: 1.2 m by 12 m rolls laid by machine for big areas
- Staged harvests: turf cut in stages across multi-month builds
- Trade pricing: project rates for landscapers, builders and developers
- Installation: our own team can supply and lay
Heat, Wind and Scale Around Eastern Creek and Luddenham
Sites around Eastern Creek and Luddenham are open, exposed and often very large. Summer heat in western Sydney is intense, and on a bare development site with little shelter, hot winds dry out freshly laid grass quickly. Landscapers working there need varieties that cope with full sun and recover from wear, and they need the turf laid fast.
Scale is the other factor. When an estate or business park needs thousands of square metres, laying standard rolls by hand takes time and leaves a lot of joins. Our Maxi Turf rolls measure 1.2 metres by 12 metres and are laid by machine, which means fewer joins and faster establishment, as long as the site has easy machine access.
Timing matters as well. Large builds rarely finish all at once, so we can stage harvests across a multi-month project, cutting each section of turf as the ground is ready. Kikuyu and couch suit these sunny, high-use spaces and sit at the more affordable end of our range.
- Full-sun Kikuyu and couch for exposed sites
- Maxi Turf where machines can get in
- Staged harvests matched to each build stage
How Much Does Grass Turf Delivery in Sydney Cost?
Most farm-direct turf costs about $9 to $18 per square metre, and the grass you pick decides where you land in that range. Kikuyu and couch sit toward the bottom, and soft leaf buffalo toward the top. Larger orders earn a lower rate per square metre, which makes a real difference on development sites. Sydney deliveries are priced on the distance from Windsor, and laying is quoted on top based on area, preparation and access.
For project or trade rates, contact our team with your site details.
- Variety: Kikuyu and couch cost less than soft leaf buffalo
- Volume: bigger areas get a lower rate per square metre
- Distance: travel from Windsor to your Sydney site
- Installation: supply only, supply and lay or Maxi Turf
Six Grasses and Where Each One Fits
Each of our six varieties earns its place. Australian-bred Matilda Soft Leaf Buffalo and Sir Walter both thrive on as little as 3 to 4 hours of direct sun. Shademaster goes further and is up to 85% shade tolerant, which suits courtyards hemmed in by buildings.
For sun and traffic, Kikuyu is hardy and fast-repairing, making it a common pick for parks and large open areas. Greenlees Park is a premium hard-wearing fine-leaf couch, and Wintergreen is a dense fine-leaf couch proven on stadiums and golf courses. In frosty winters, couch and Kikuyu can go dormant or straw-coloured, while soft leaf buffalo holds its colour better, which is worth weighing up for sites that need to look good all year.
How We Match and Deliver Grass to Sydney Sites
Whether you are turfing one courtyard or a whole estate, we follow the same process to get the right grass to the right place at the right time.
- Review the site. Tell us about light, use, area and access, or send plans for larger jobs.
- Select the grass. We recommend a variety, or a mix of varieties for different zones.
- Schedule harvests. We cut at Windsor for each delivery, staged across the build if needed.
- Deliver and install. Turf arrives Monday to Saturday, for you or our team to lay.
Shade and Tight Access on the Lower North Shore
Many lower North Shore gardens are small, shaded and hard to reach. Apartment blocks, tall fences and established street trees can leave a courtyard with only a couple of hours of direct sun, and sun-loving grasses quickly thin out there. Shademaster, which is up to 85% shade tolerant, is often the best match, with Matilda or Sir Walter suiting yards that get 3 to 4 hours of sun.
Access is the other hurdle. Narrow, busy streets limit where a truck can stop, and many terraces have no side access at all, so every roll has to be carried through the house. Fresh turf typically weighs around 15 to 25 kg per square metre, so even a small order is a lot to move.
We plan these jobs closely. Tell us about parking, stairs and the route from the street to the garden. Smaller orders are easier to handle, and our own team can lay the turf if you would rather not carry it yourself.
- Shademaster for courtyards with little sun
- Delivery planned around parking and stairs
- Our team can carry and lay tight-access jobs

Frequently Asked Questions About Grass Turf Delivery in Sydney
From big western Sydney projects to small North Shore gardens, these answers help you choose the grass and plan the delivery.
Our turf specialists are happy to help.
Which varieties are available for grass turf delivery Sydney-wide?
Our grass turf delivery Sydney service includes Matilda, Sir Walter and Shademaster Soft Leaf Buffalo, Kikuyu, Greenlees Park Couch and Wintergreen Couch. All six are grown on our own farm at Windsor and cut fresh for each delivery, Monday to Saturday.
Can you supply large western Sydney developments?
Yes. We supply builders, developers, landscapers and councils, and we can stage harvests across multi-month builds. For large open areas, Maxi Turf rolls of 1.2 m by 12 m are laid by machine for fewer joins and faster establishment, provided the site has easy machine access.
Do you offer trade pricing for landscapers?
Yes. Trade and project pricing is available, and larger areas generally earn a lower rate per square metre. Send us your site details, quantities and timeline, and we will put together a quote. We usually reply to quote requests within one business day.
What grass works in a small, shaded courtyard?
Shademaster Soft Leaf Buffalo is up to 85% shade tolerant, so it is our usual pick for courtyards surrounded by buildings. Where the area gets 3 to 4 hours of direct sun, Matilda or Sir Walter also do well. Kikuyu and couch need full sun.
Can I order different grasses for different parts of a site?
Yes. Larger sites often have sunny open areas and shaded corners, and we can recommend a different variety for each zone. Tell us how each area is used and how much light it gets, and we will plan the grass turf delivery in Sydney to suit.
Which grass is best for sports or high-wear areas?
Wintergreen Couch is a dense fine-leaf couch proven on stadiums and golf courses, and Greenlees Park is a premium hard-wearing fine-leaf couch. Kikuyu is also hardy and fast-repairing in full sun. All three suit busy, sunny spaces.
How is delivery priced for Sydney orders?
Delivery is priced on the distance from our Windsor farm to your site, alongside the variety and total area. Laying is quoted on top if you need it. Send us your suburb and measurements and we will include everything in one quote.
