Why Customers Keep Ordering from Us
What to Expect from a Turf Delivery Service Company
Turf delivery is not one-size-fits-all. A homeowner in Richmond replacing a tired backyard needs something very different from a landscaper booking a week of drops, or a Kurrajong property owner with a steep, winding driveway. A good delivery service starts by asking how the turf will be received, moved and laid, then shapes the order around those answers.
We have grown natural turf on the Cornwallis Flats at Windsor for more than 45 years, and our own team handles harvesting, delivery and laying. That means one conversation covers the whole job, from picking a variety to deciding where the pallets should land.
In short: Associated Turf grows turf at Windsor and delivers it across Richmond, Kurrajong and the Hawkesbury from Monday to Saturday, or you can collect from the farm. Most turf costs about $9 to $18 per square metre, varying with variety, area, distance and laying. We usually reply to quote requests within one business day.
- Grown, cut and delivered by one business
- No yard stock or double-handling
- Harvest planned around your delivery day
- Straight answers on what is ready to cut
Turf Delivery Service for Richmond and Kurrajong Homes
Richmond and Kurrajong may be neighbours, but they ask very different things of a turf delivery. Around Richmond, many lawns sit on flatter ground, from established town blocks to newer estate homes and larger rural lots, where trucks can usually get close and pallets go straight onto the driveway. Up in Kurrajong, homes are often on sloping blocks set among tall trees, reached by winding roads and steep driveways, and lawns there may get far less sun through the day.
Our service is built to handle both. We start by asking about your access, your slope and your shade, then suggest a variety and a delivery format to match, whether that is a single pallet, a split drop or supply and lay by our own team. For a closer look at how we run deliveries from the farm, see our turf delivery company page, or tell us about your property and we will plan it with you.
- Delivery format matched to your driveway and slope
- Shade-tolerant varieties for leafy Kurrajong blocks
- Supply only, supply and lay, or farm pick-up
What Our Turf Delivery Service Can Include
Every booking can be tailored. Some customers just want a pallet left at the front gate, while others want the turf delivered, laid and watered in by the people who grew it. Mix and match the services below to suit your site and your schedule.
- Pallet drop: palletised delivery for larger orders, Monday to Saturday
- Supply and lay: our own team lays the turf after delivery
- Farm pick-up: collect from Windsor weekdays 8am to 4.30pm or Saturday 7am to 12pm
- Trade supply: project pricing for landscapers, builders and developers
- Staged harvests: turf supplied in stages across multi-month builds
- Maxi Turf: 1.2 m by 12 m rolls laid by machine for open areas
Steep Driveways and Tight Access in Kurrajong
Access is the biggest variable in delivering turf to the Kurrajong hills. Many properties are reached by narrow, winding roads, and driveways can be steep, gravelled or lined with trees that limit where a truck can stop. A pallet that can be placed right beside the lawn on a flat Richmond block may have to be dropped at the top of a Kurrajong driveway instead.
Slope also changes the laying job. Turf on a bank needs a well-prepared base, and every roll has to be carried and placed by hand, which takes longer when the drop point is a long way from the lawn. Fresh turf typically weighs around 15 to 25 kg per square metre, so moving it uphill adds real effort.
When you book, we ask where a truck can safely stop and turn, how far the turf needs to travel and whether help with laying would make sense. Planning this up front avoids surprises on delivery day.
- Safe drop point agreed before delivery
- Options for split drops on long driveways
- Laying help for sloping or awkward lawns
What Does a Turf Delivery Service Cost Around Richmond?
Pricing reflects the turf you choose and the service you add to it. In general, our turf costs about $9 to $18 per square metre direct, and Kikuyu and couch come in under soft leaf buffalo. Rates per square metre usually ease as order size goes up. Delivery distance from Windsor is factored in, and if our team lays the turf, installation is quoted on top based on area, site preparation and access.
Request a quote from our team and we will price your exact service.
- Service type: supply only or supply and lay
- Variety: buffalo sits above Kikuyu and couch
- Area: bigger orders lower the rate per m²
- Access: steep or tight sites can affect laying costs
Collecting Turf Yourself Versus Having It Delivered
Some customers prefer to collect turf themselves, and our farm on Cornwallis Road, Windsor is open for pick-up Monday to Friday from 8am to 4.30pm and Saturday from 7am to 12pm. Collection works well for small patch-ups, but the weight adds up quickly. Fresh turf typically weighs around 15 to 25 kg per square metre, depending on moisture, so a 30 square metre order can weigh somewhere between 450 and 750 kg.
For anything larger, delivery is usually the safer option. Bigger jobs arrive on pallets, Monday to Saturday, and are cut to order so the turf is fresh when it lands. Either way, plan to lay the turf on the day you receive it, especially in hot weather, and have your soil loosened, topped with underlay and levelled beforehand.

How Our Turf Delivery Service Runs from Booking to Lawn
Whether you collect, take a pallet drop or book us to lay, the service follows the same four steps. Each one is handled by our own team, so you are never passed between a grower, a carrier and a contractor.
- Choose your service. Tell us your area and whether you want pick-up, delivery only or supply and lay.
- Plan the drop. We note access, slope and the best place for the pallets, and confirm your Monday to Saturday date.
- Harvest to order. Your turf is cut on our Windsor farm to match the delivery or collection time.
- Deliver, lay and advise. The turf arrives as planned, our team lays it if booked, and we leave you with watering guidance.
Shade, Cool Hills and Frosty Flats Around Richmond
Light and temperature vary sharply between Richmond and Kurrajong, and both affect which turf should be on the truck. Kurrajong’s tall trees and hillside aspects mean many lawns get only part of the day in direct sun. Matilda and Sir Walter thrive with as little as 3 to 4 hours of direct sun, and Shademaster is up to 85% shade tolerant, so they are often the better choice for leafy blocks.
Down on the Richmond flats, cold air settles on winter nights and frosts are common. Couch and Kikuyu can go dormant and turn straw-coloured through a frosty winter, while soft leaf buffalo holds its colour better. In summer the same flats can be very hot, which suits sun-loving Kikuyu and couch where there is little shade and plenty of wear.
Telling us about your sun, shade and season when you book means the turf we deliver is already suited to the spot it is going into.
- Shade-tolerant buffalo for tree-lined blocks
- Frost-aware advice for river-flat lawns
- Sun-loving Kikuyu and couch for open yards

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Turf Delivery Service in Richmond and Kurrajong
Not sure which delivery option suits your property? These answers cover the questions Richmond, Kurrajong and Hawkesbury customers ask us most.
Our turf specialists are happy to help.
What does a turf delivery service company actually do?
A turf delivery service company organises the harvest, transport and drop-off of fresh turf, and some also lay it. As a grower, Associated Turf does all of this from our own farm at Windsor, so your turf is cut to suit your booked day and delivered by the same team that grew it.
Can you deliver to steep or hard-to-reach properties?
Often, yes, but it depends on where a truck can safely stop. For steep Kurrajong driveways or narrow access, we agree on a drop point when you book. If the turf has a long way to travel to the lawn, our laying team can help get it into place.
Can I collect turf instead of having it delivered?
Yes. Farm pick-up runs Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm and Saturday 7am to 12pm at Cornwallis Road, Windsor. Call ahead so we cut your order fresh, and check your vehicle or trailer can handle the weight, as turf typically weighs 15 to 25 kg per square metre.
Do you offer a supply-and-lay service?
We do. As a turf delivery service company with its own laying team, we can deliver and lay your turf in one booking. Laying is quoted on top of the turf price and depends on the size of the area, how much site preparation is needed and how easy the site is to access.
Does your turf delivery service work with landscapers and builders?
Yes. Landscapers, builders, developers, schools and councils use our turf delivery service alongside homeowners. Trade and project pricing is available, and on longer builds we can stage harvests so each section of turf arrives when that part of the site is ready.
What turf suits shady Kurrajong gardens?
For lawns under trees or on shaded slopes, soft leaf buffalo is usually the best fit. Matilda and Sir Walter thrive with 3 to 4 hours of direct sun at minimum, and Shademaster tolerates up to 85% shade. Tell us how much sun your lawn gets and we will recommend one.
How do I book with your turf delivery service company?
Call us on 1800 044 006 or use the quote form with your area, address, preferred variety and whether you need laying. We usually reply to quote requests within one business day, then confirm the harvest and delivery day that suits your project.
